The spark ignition engine, or SI engine is an internal combustion engine of the vehicles engine. Generally, a gasoline engine where the air-fuel mixture is done through a spark plug. This is opposite to compression ignition engines. The heat generated by compression, which is usually with the injection of fuel into diesel engines are sufficient to start the combustion process without any external spark plugs. The main feature of SI engine is that it runs on petrol/ octane engine. The fuel is inserted through the intake valve &a spark plug and exits through the exhaust valve. In this case the spark plug helps to burn the air fuel mixer. |
