Trellis Frame

Trellis Frame

Trellis Frame

Trellis means mesh or structure. This is a type of motorcycle frame known as a trellis frame. As the name suggests, the trellis frame consists of a number of straight 'tubes' in the shape of numerous 'triangles'. Manufacturers use aluminum or steel to make it. These triangular shapes create the bike's strong structure and ability to withstand pressure. The trellis frame connects the steering head directly to the swing-arm pivot. The advantage of the trellis type frame is that it weighs less than the cradle type frame. It is used to give the engine good support and structure. This type of trellis frame costs more to make than a cradle frame. The use of such frames is more noticeable in modern street bikes.
