Motorcycles that are powered by electricity or electric motorcycles or e-bikes in short are called the bikes of the future. Our world is running out of fossil fuels, and so everyone is thinking about other alternative of fuels. As a result, e-bikes are being considered as an alternative because the environment is polluted due to fuel-powered vehicles.
Why not to buy an e-bike?
When you think of e-bikes, a list of matters comes to our mind that might restrict us not buy an e-bike. Let's look at the problems-
To be honest, E-bikes are not allowed everywhere. Driving on highways it is prohibited. As a result, when moving on the road, the traffic police sometimes interruptsus to ride. Even the traffic cops doesn’t have proper guidance on e-bikes, so sometimes misapplication of the law occurs over the user.
Considering the quality, the price of e-bike is already high. Other hand if the battery becomes old and the battery is replaced, a lot of money is required at once. Considering the cost of battery replacement it is easier to buy a new e-bike.
The big disadvantage of e-bike is that they don't go that far on a single charge. Normal e-bikes run 40-50km on a single charge, which is somewhat useful for urban/rural commuting. Nevertheless it is not prepared for off road and long journeys yet. It takes 5-6 hours to recharge once the charge is over.
Most of the e- bikes available today are of the scooter type mostly. As a result young people are not interested and those that are motorcycle type also have a toy type design that makes a youngster funny personality among friends.
Where a normal bike can reach 70-80km/h easily, e-bikes struggle to reach 30-40km/h which may be a bit maneuverable for the city but not at all desirable on the highway.
E-bike is easy to ride but not convenient for our country. Body Plastics getsfrightened on the broken streets. Sudden increase of water on roads during downpour is a common phenomenon in our country. Water is fatal to electrical appliances. Spare parts are not easy to get and parts are expensive, skilled technicians are not available as well.
The e-bikes that are seen in our country, so far inferior and unsustainable. Cheap plastic are used for manufacturing which breaks easily. Where a normal bike can easily last 15-20 years, an e-bike wears out in 2-4 years.
As e-bikes are not in trend and the bikes are not of high quality, selling your old e-bikes doesn't attracts many buyers, and even if you get a few they don't fetch good prices.
There has been a trend for a long time of bringing substandard e-bikes from China and selling them under someone’s own branding. As a result, a new brand is always appearing suddenly, and they went out of business suddenly as well. Consequently, the buyer face usual problem with the parts and after sales service of their bike.
In conclusion:
E-bikes are eco-friendly and the bikes of the future that is true for sure. The current e-bikes in our country are not up to the standard at all. But hopefully some of these companies have already started working with e-bikes. We will have to give some more time to know how their performance and service quality will be, so think twice before you buy a E-bike from anywhere.
