To make scooters popular among women in Bangladesh

Vespa! This is one of the most popular names in vehicle world. In Bangladesh we passed a time when we all consider scooters as Vespa. On the other hand we still think that scooters are only for female. But most interesting thing is not only in foreign countries but also in our country most of the scooter users are male. However if we leave this male female argument about scooters we will see that the demand of this vehicle is rising in or country. As the riders foot placing position of scooters are free in front side that is why female riders can easily ride a scooter wearing any kind of dress such as Shari, Salwar and pants etc. on the other hand it is very easy to drive a scooter comparing to motorcycle and for that reason female riders are getting interested using this thing. Most of the popular motorcycle companies also have scooters in their product list. If we are able to solve few problems and along with that we can take few steps then the popularity of scooters among female rides might increase surely.

Training arrangements
One of the most important obstacles which forbid female riders to learn bike riding is the shortage of proper training guideline. There are very few families who allow their girls to learn bike riding or encourage them to do so. If they get that permission or become interested they cannot learn because of proper chances/ place and environment, so ultimately they have to step back and cannot learn scooter riding or biking. If the scooter companies take a step to provide proper training to learn scooter riding for the female users then the first obstacle for learning will be reduced, though some of the popular brands do this program sometimes but that is not enough actually.

Provide easy installment
We will see that schools, college, university going female students or the service holders are interested to have scooters for their use. Without them house wives are also interested to use scooters to drop their children for school or to complete their family works. For them if the scooters are provided in easy installment then surely they will become more interested and will be able to afford a scooter.

Start home service
If someone uses a bike then they have to visit the servicing center for fixing the problems. So if the female users get special treatment at the servicing center or if they get home service for their scooter then they will be relived a bit from the regular servicing and repairing hassle.



Chowdhurany Depali Ahmed she is also known to us by the name of biker couple, she is attached with motorcycle riding for fifteen years and she becomes attracted over bike after watching female riders of the scooter. After getting married this desire of her was fulfilled. She learned bike riding using a bike not a scooter. After many days she started riding scooter. By this time sharing bike with her husband MR.Alomgir ahmed Chowdhury she traveled 64 cities in our country in 2016 and also traveled 14 states of west Bengal in 2017. According to her for accomplishing the daily needs scooty is one of the most precious things for women, though she also said that for touring or traveling for long journeys scooters are not perfect, she things scooters are best for school, college or office going though she is a motorcycle riders and uses bikes for extreme riding and long journeys. She also said I think scooters are most suitable vehicle for the female which gives them confidence and also suits with their personality. Those girls whom are interested to become an extreme bike rider they can start their journey with scooters for sure.

Chowdhurany Depali Ahmed said about few problems which are reducing the interests of the women to ride scooters, such as- for women the first problem is they cannot work properly outside of the house like men, messy traffic system, riding cars with inexperienced drivers, allowing the most unwanted vehicle rickshaws to every place, rush riding of the motorcycle users, no cooperation from the male members of the family and no interest of the female members. She thinks that to increase the interest of female riders over scooter the first thing we have to do is to provide cooperation from the male members of the family and to encourage women for riding their own ways. Male riders must show respect and allow the female riders first on road. On the other side scooter riders must wear safe dresses instead of good looking or attractive dresses. Without that we have to take steps to decrease the others problems we have discussed about. We have to inform the government about this problem and ask for their attention to solve these problems and finally the females must try hard and sole to convince their family members to allow them ride a scooter and to let them be self depended.



In the long run, a scooter user Alia Begum said- “presently women are very much ahead. They have to go outside for their personal need or job purpose and they cannot find a better transport for them accept local bus or CNG. But they have to go through lots of difficulties there and to get passed t his problems I had chosen scooter for my traveling. Using a scooter is easy and not a big deal. Recently I made a journey to Sajek Valley and that is why I am saying it. For using scooter women has to go through many obstruction from their family and society but it is also true that scooter is one of the best transport for women’s safety. So the family will have to come forward to solve this matter and to allow this matter”.
