Why high CC motorcycle needs approval in Bangladesh

CC stands for the capacity of the engine, in cubic centimeters, which is literally the volume of the cylinders placed inside an engine. A larger cylinder can ingest more air (and more fuel), thus converting more energy per cycle than a smaller one, so making more power is the main purpose of a higher cc engine. Besides, it is assumed that all other factors are the same, and there are many other reasons that affect power output, but one thing is clear and that is, the higher cc engine, the more power it will produce. Even though it is not necessary that we assume higher cc means high speed and high risk. However, if we talk about the Bangladeshi perspective of motorcycle cc range we will see the limitation is 165cc, but a few decades back it has no bound. Motorcycle industry of Bangladesh is struggling with motorcycle engine capacity limit approximately from the year 2000, before there was no engine capacity limit in Bangladesh. That time anyone can import or can use any capacity of motorcycle on the road. But after or from the year 2000 the existing government executed barrier on engine capacity of motorcycle.Accordingly, what was the reason that our government or Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) reduced cc limit for motorcycle engine? Is it worth it? Why higher cc bike is required? What could be the advantages or the drawbacks of higher cc motorcycles, all these issues will be discussed in this article.

If we overlook other well developed countries, our neighbor countries do not have that CC limitations issue. In our country we can only take deep breath and sit back home while watching those mesmerizing high range bikes. In a few year circle the cc limitation does increase but only 5-10 cc from the previous stoppage. Now it is risen up to 165 but the most of the bike users and especially the Youngsters want no CC limitation, at least they want 200-350 CC permission. Peoples put logic against these statement, some people says the higher CC limitation will get, the more accidents will take place, which causes death. Sometimes it is heard that if the government permit to import high CC bikes than bad incidences will increase because our national security forces do not have the higher range bikes. On the other hand, people think our country roads are not perfect for riding the higher CC motorcycles. So, how we will get into a decision about higher CC motorcycles?

Main attraction of the youngsters is speed and racing type motorcycles,because of that reason they like higher CC motorcycles to fulfil their need. We all know that Bangladeshi roads are not perfect for extraordinary speed. In fact the capital city Dhaka holds that kind of roads where the average speed is 5/6 Km/H, which means people can easily pass through on foot faster than bike. Higher CC motorcycles are not only required for speed but they are also required for other important issues like, touring, hill tracking, for the cruiser bikes engine, control, comfort, longevity and many more things. Regarding all these things now it became situation demand.

If it was about the matter of price or only fuel cost then the demand of 50 or 80cc bikes will remain strong but nowadays they are not seen anywhere at the choice list of the users. So day after day the demand of higher CC range are increasing among peoples, without speed those who wants to travel with bikes a lot, and those riders who need intense performance and longevity are demanding higher cc bike. Because of the new 165CC limitation 5-6 models already arrived in our country,if limitation increases up to 200-350 CC at least then few more attractive and well performing bikes will arrive in Bangladeshi market. Moreover, their value for money will be more efficient because if the government permit up to 350CC then undoubtedly a revolutionary change will be seen at the motorcycle market of Bangladesh. Consequently, youths dream the bike named “Royal Enfield” can be purchased on that time.

Drawbacks of higher cc motorcycles and possible solutions

Security concerns
Many argue that giving permission for high cc motorcycle will damage the security purpose. People will be able to import high range bikes, which the national security forces don’t carry, so it will be difficult to hold on the crimes. Is it really worth it? If a normal citizen can buy a high cc bike than why do not our security forces? Our government can restrict the driving license process for high cc motorcycles, inexperience riders should not get the permission for the high cc motorcycles and registration should be retracted for them, all these can handle the situation. Furthermore, importing better quality bikes for the national security forces can also be the solution.

Higher cc means high speed and Causes accidents?
It cannot be denied that high cc bikes provides high speed and regarding the road condition of our country that can cause savior problems. But it does not mean that a 1000 cc bike will provide 1000 KM/H speed, on the other side few bikes will provide more speed than their CC. In our country basis there is no road that can offer a rider to ride on a high speed constantly, so why it will cause accidents? It depends on the own riding hands and personal consciousness to get rid of accidents. One thing is true that for high speed we are going to need higher CC engine. Therefore developing our own riding skills is important, as well as the road conditions. But we cannot say that road conditions and higher cc will bring accidents.

In Bangladesh people often claim that high cc motorcycle means high fuel cost. It cannot be denied but fact is expecting fuel efficiency from a high speed or high performance bike is kind of wasting our time. High cc means, higher weight, high power output and that means more fuel consumption. As a result, fuel cost will increase surely, nevertheless the performance will also rise for sure.

Yes! It is true, safety comes with high range bikes, because the more advancement in performance more we need safety gears. High cc motorcycles offers high range braking and other safety gears, which is really necessary. ABS, CBS, UBS braking, and many other important features for the safety is provided with the high cc bikes and those are not generally seen at low segment motorcycles.

High cc motorcycles comes with Modern Technology
Higher CC means higher performance from all the side and we will be introduced to many other modern technologies because of that. Android phone connectivity, theft security, finding motorcycle like location tracking, remote control many other technology is now available with high CC motorcycles but we the Bangladeshi users are not even aware of these. Technologies are upgrading like, VVA system, EFi, Fi but they has their own limit, after a certain time they will be restricted because of CC limit but If the cc limitation gets higher we can find such type of technologies in all kind of bikes.

Traveling with motorcycle is one of the beloved things for a rider, not only because of the speed but also for the comfort, control, balancing, safety and overall intense performance traveling will become easier and harmless because of higher range bikes. Especially for the tourist now it is required to have a high performance bike and for that they need high cc motorcycles. Nowadays traveling with motorcycle has become widespread, meanwhile in our country that is getting popular, so it is time for us to have high CC motorcycles for our use. It will make sure our safety, comfort and courage.

Widespread motorcycle market
It is now decided that most of the company will start their production in our country, at least the products will be assembled. Therefore, we are expecting sensible price range comparing to the past. But the problem is, there are only a few product that holds the market, no variety. Increasing CC limitation will bring variety in our local market, manufacturers will also have that chance to introduce more efficient products for the users. Results in, the market will be widespread and full of choice. Both the user and company will have plethora of option to buy and sell. Investments will not be in vain.

Value for money
If we look down into the market we will see that our budget is comparatively higher than the product. Yes!It is again true that we spend extra money for our motorcycles when we purchase them. For instance, we are paying around TK 500000 for the desired sports category motorcycles, which are the latest model in our motorcycle market but all of them are around 155cc motorcycle. Relatively, we can find a higher cc bike in the same price tag in other countries. Because of the taxation issues and not being produce in our country price range is higher. However, we don’t have that ability to buy those bikes, because the cc limit is lower but if it increases our value for money will be equalize properly. Bajaj Pulsar NS or AS 200, CBR 180, KTM or Kawasaki all these kind of renowned bike will be available within a good amount price. Is not it a great thing for the bike lovers?

On the whole it can be said demand of higher CC bikes are increasing in Bangladesh. Therefore, Using and increasing the correct laws and regulations along with the public consciousness high performance bike can be allowed in our country. According to the users, no cc limitation is best but at least 200-350 is required now.
