Yamaha Celebrates 65 Years Of Glory

On 1stJuly 2020, Yamaha will celebrate its 65th year of glory. Eventually, this day will be called Yamaha Day. Yamaha calls for celebration regarding their entire heritage and they appreciates the presence of the Yamaha lovers for their support, which helped them reaching this milestone.

Yamaha started their journey in 1955, since then they are trying to create exceptional value and experiences that enriches the lives of their customers. Ever since the first motorcycle comes out of the factory, Yamaha has remained keenly aware of their customer’s needs. Therefore, they don’t have to wait for their diversified motorcycle production. This company was driven by the founder Genichi Kawakami, who decided to build small engines and motorcycles. During post-world war time period, many manufacturers around Japan were starting to convert their war-time production into new markets, such as motorcycles and other automobiles. From that period of time Yamaha set their goal for providing classy vehicles.

Yamaha released their first motorcycle, with the name of YA-1 in 1955 under the freshly formed branch of the company called Yamaha Motor Company. In terms of success, Yamaha was followed with good luck, meanwhile the other motorcycle manufacturers were experiencing missteps with their early products, but Yamaha found immediate success with the YA-1. Consequently, after the initial YA-1 success, Yamaha introduced YA-2 in 1957, which was the upgraded version of YA-1. Later on YD-1 increased the engine size from 125cc to 250cc. throughout the later 1950s and into the early 1960s, Yamaha continued their racing success, and by 1964, they set up their first overseas subsidiary in Thailand.

At the very beginning, Yamaha had all of their consideration on two-stroke engine designs, but in 1968, they bring in their first four-stroke design with the XS-1. This design was fully appreciated in the 1970s with the release of the XS-750. Yamaha continued to find success with bikes like the XS-1100 and the XT500.
