By selling more than three lakh pieces of Bajaj Pulsar 150 this bike holds the position of the highest selling motorcycle in Bangladesh. Though that position is taken by TVS Apache RTR with the flow of time but because of the decent outlooks, excellent design and build quality, powerful engine and its performance Bajaj Pulsar still remains one of the most attractive bikes. For the last 15-16 years this bike holds a strong position at the 150 CC segment. Recently a new version of Bajaj Pulsar 150 has been introduced at the Indian local market which is named Bajaj Pulsar 150 Twin Disc (UG5). It is very obvious that few new add is made at this bike among them rear disc brake is at the top of the list.
Design and style
Talking about the design it is noticed that comparing to previous 150 Bajaj Pulsar new Model is little bit different. Because the graphics is not the same as the old Bajaj Pulsar 150, now this model is a copied version of Bajaj Pulsar 180cc. it has split seating position, split grab rail, double disc, stylish graphics, front gear leaver, wider rear tire (120mm), half chain cover, new silvery chrome exhaust cover etc all are the new changes of this bike which makes the difference from the past 150 cc model. On the whole riders will get sports bike feelings at this bike more than the previous Bajaj Pulsar 150.
Dimension
Body dimension of Bajaj Pulsar 150 twin disc is little bit different. At the measurements this bike has 2035 mm length, 765 mm width and 1116 mm height. The ground clearance of this bike is 165 mm and the wheelbase is 1345 mm but one of the interesting things is the body weight remains the same and that is 144 KG. So those who were old pulsar users will definitely feel different feeling after using this new model. Without that the footrest is placed little bit back side then before and reason behind that is to offer sporty bike feelings for the rider. So overall it is considered that this twin disc model has a great change at the dimension sector.
Engine
BS4 engine is placed at this new Bajaj Pulsar 150 Twin Disc. Engine produces the same power of 14 Ps@ 8000 RMP and max power of 13.4 NM @6000 RMP like the old model. This engine holds five speed manual gear box and one thing has changed and that is the kick starting option is missing, you can only start the engine by the electric starting option. It might be a small problem because Bangladeshi riders are not mentally satisfied without the kick start and they are not used to as well.
Seating position
Seating position is upgraded then before at this version and now it holds split seating position. This kind of seat offer good comfort for both the rider and the pillion. We all know hat Bajaj pulsar is popular as a family bike for the long seat but because of the split seat customers might be lessen.
Braking
For the first time Bajaj has used rear disc brakes at 150 Pulsar series before this bike there was no disc braking system on Bajaj pulsar. At the front side this bike has 260 MM disc and at the rear side it has 230 mm disc brakes which might offer the riders more effective braking.
Suspension and tire
Changes are seen at both these sides at the front side this bike has telescopic fork suspensions and at the rear side it holds twin shock suspensions. The front suspension is borrowed from the pulsar 180 and that is also a new put in at this bike. On the other side tyres are also not the same because at the previous model the rear tire was 100 but no it is upgrade and wider and the measurement is 120/80-17. This wider tire will offer more effective grip for the rider and at the front side it holds 90/90-17 tires.
Meter console and electrical
Slight changes are there at the meter consoles graphics. Earlier model holds a grey colored background t the meter panel; now it is white. Talking about the features it contains speedometer, fuel indicator etc all the same features like the previous model. At the electrical side all the things remains the same such as the ionic featured switches and the rest. It is better to no like all the other new motorcycles this bike is also featured with AHO technology at the electrical side.
Verdict
We already know that Bajaj Pulsar is really a popular bike and to increase the craze of this bike more Bajaj Company is bringing this new version or model of Bajaj Pulsar 150 Twin Disc. This bike holds few features from pulsar 180 and it also holds few old features as well. based on the new inputs at this bike it can be assumed that the company has tried to give this bike sporty look targeted the youth but if we pass judgment on this new inputs then we must say that, new added features or changes are good but not good enough like the other available ports bikes at the local market which are already staying at the young riders mind. So it is now a matter of time to say that how attractive this bike will be to the youth. On the other side few customers will be disappointed like the villagers and the family bike users because of the split seat which is recently added. Not only that only because of mental satisfaction might few buyers deny this bike because of the missing kick start option. On the whole this new version has no major changes then the old Bajaj Pulsar 150 but few interesting inputs are seen. But because of the twin Disc brakes and wider tire this bike may offer good controlling, comfort and confident for the riders.
