Honda CB Hornet 160 user review by Istiak Kabir

From five years back I learned biking on TVS Apache RTR and that was my elder brother’s motorcycle. I used to ride that bike and after few days I bought Bajaj Pulsar AS150 (RED). I was really enjoyed my rides with Pulsar AS 150 because it was a comfortable bike. Time was passing away and Honda introduced their 162cc motorcycle in the local market named Honda Hornet. I like the outlook of this bike and it is also a new segment bike so I chose this bike by my own. Before buying this new segment motorcycle I have observed the user opinions and expert reviews and for that I cheeked many websites along with motorcycle valley. Because I know everything has good and bad sides both but it is about the number. So after reading all the hornet reviews I came to know that it only has a chain problem which is a reason to worry except that all are good.

I am MD.Istiak Kabir and I am using Honda Hornet 160 for the last two months. I bought this bike from one of the most popular bike showroom in Rajshahi named MIthun Honda. After purchasing this machine I have completed almost four thousand kilometers ride with it and today I am here to share all my experiences with my bike which I have gathered in this time.

Design
First things first I like the Hornet’s design that I have mentioned already. Though it looks decent from the front but from the rear side it looks eye catching. In Bangladesh I haven’t seen this kind of X shaped tail lamp design at any other bikes. Without that design of the fuel tanker, overall color combination and graphics also makes me happy when I see those.



Build
Till now I haven’t fallen from this bike or this bike is not felt down from me so I cannot say the exact durability or longevity of the body parts. While riding on the bad roads or touching the body parts I feel they are strong enough. All the body plastics are strong enough to support a rider for a long time I guess.



Engine
This 162 cc engine can be accelerated perfectly at the highways though it doesn’t have any ready pick up terms. I have personally ridden at the speed of 102 KM/H speed at the short highways. Though I can speed up more but I haven’t tried because I prefer to stay alive and accident comes without notice. At the very begging the engine used to get over heated but as the time is running it is getting perfect. As we all know Honda is best with their engine and I am also not getting any fault by the way.

Comfort
I must say this motorcycle is really a comfortable motorcycle to ride a long distance. I personally made 250 kilometers journey with it in one day and I was so comfortable during my entire journey and I thought I may not be that much comfortable with other bikes. But one thing I have to say that the riding seat is perfect, comfortable and softer but the pillion seat is not. My friends are complaining me about that while seating on my pillion seat. I think the combination of the handle bar and riding seat I perfect and that is why it offers great comfort. But if the seat height was little bit higher than it would be perfect for me I guess.



Electrical
Headlamp power is not sufficient of this bike, because I cannot see the long distances that much clear and the light is not that much powerful either. Electrical switches are good to operate but there are no engine kill switch and headlamp on /off switch and this are because of the AHO technology, which I didn’t like at all.

City ride
I feel relaxed and enjoy my rides at the city roads with my bike. As the bike is naked from the rear side so I can easily overtake others.

Highway ride
I often ride at the highways. I have visited Shona Mosjid from Rajshahi without stopping anywhere and I feel this bike supported me perfectly so it is good for the highway rides. No back pain, no bad sounds and I reached my destination safely.

Braking system
In our country double Disc Hornet was about to come but due to little reason single Disc is available and they are not offering bad performance. Braking system of Honda is undoubtedly good and this bike also comes with good braking system.

Tyre
Front tyres are well gripped but the rear one are not that much comparing to the front. While hard braking rear tires do skid but they don’t skid badly at all. Without that tyre size is perfect I think.

Suspension
Front suspension offers great comfort but the rear one is only for the riders not for the pillion actually. At the off type of road pillions feel bad shaking by the way.

Mileage
Talking about the mileage I am happy with this 162 cc bike. I use octane and I am getting 47 KM/L mileage.

Service center
I service my bike from the same place I bought this bike Mithun Honda, Rajshahi. Though they offer excellent bike servicing but their behavior is worst. Once I visited their showroom for fixing a problem their responsibility was to hear my problem as I am their customer, but they didn’t do that even they don’t even let me in and said come after the EID eve. So I complain about their behavior because I never expected these all from Honda. They need to raise their service quality.

Price
Price of this bike is perfect and very reasonable for the users.

Bad sides
- Chain set
- Pillion seat.

I will request the company to increase the quality of their servicing center and place a powerful headlamp with an operating switch. So these were my four thousand kilometers experiences with my bike.
