TVS Apache RTR 160 user review by Sojib Ahmed

I learned bike riding on CG 125 which belongs to other person not me. I became passionate about bike when I learned riding a bicycle. As I live in a village so I used to ride a bicycle for my daily traveling. With this two wheeler vehicle I traveled miles in my life. With the rising age of mine, my mind diverted and attracted to motorcycles. After that attraction raise inside me I always wanted to ride a bike. I didn’t have my own motorcycle so I have learned bike riding using others bike and started to ride as well. Six years passed away from my life using pother bike. Last year I gave pressure to my family fro buy me a bike but because of the financial problem I have to wait. At the very begging of this year I started to force my family and my dream comes true, now I have my own motorcycle.



Though my the dream of having a bike was filled after having a bike but it was also about a matter of choice which needed to be fulfilled as well. From the starting of my bike riding career I liked muscular type motorcycles. I used to like Bajaj Pulsar but after watching the Matt Blue edition of TVS Apache RTR I liked this model more than that. Not only the looks but also the ready pick up and more muscular looks than pulsar attracted me. So without fining any other choice I bought RTR because it also fits in my budget. Though my family members recommended me TVS metro but I was not interested. I am also a digital country citizen so why should I go for those old age peoples bike which will not suit with my personality. So finally I made my mind convinced my family and bought TVS Apache RTR 160 Matt Blue from the TVS Dealers named Shumi Autos, it is placed at Chatmohor Bazar, Pabna. Today I am here to share my first ride experiences with this bike but hopefully I will again be here to share my experiences after ten thousand kilometers.

Engine
In on e word the engine is truly powerful. Even with the pillion I feel I am riding alone. I personally observed that this bike holds more powerful engine than the other 160cc bikes. At the very begging the engine gets over heated but after 500 kilometer ride I took it for servicing and that problem started to reduce and I hope it will go away very soon. Even after riding for a long time the engine offers the same performance like the starting. I am not worrying about the engine side and hopefully I will never have to.

Seating position
Honestly saying I don’t like the seating position that much. Seat of this bike is little bit one sided and for that after a long ride o feel back pain. I have ridden only for five minutes at the village roads and the road was muddy and I was fully tired while controlling it because the combination of the handle bar and the riding sat is also not that much comfortable for all. Especially for the old age riders the seating position and the handle bar are not perfect. On the other side I have to say that the pillion seat is softer and wider for the pillions.

Design
Talking about the design I must admire that this bike holds one of the best design because within this budget no other Indian bike offer this much. Muscular body kit and the fuel tanker make the outlooks of this bike more attractive. I personally like the matt blue color and that why I like the Matt blue edition RTR as well. Overall graphics also matches perfectly with the color and for that reason overall I am pleased with the design of this bike.

Build
I think the build quality of this bike is standard nothing especial in here because according to me the body plastics are not that much strong or durable I guess. Even the paint quality is not that much perfect because they are fading away with scratches. So I will recommend the manufacturing company to tiptop the build quality more.

Speed
Apache RTR is mainly popular for its monstrous speed. I am in the break in period so I didn’t tried to speed up this bike that much but once I have crossed 90 KM/H speed with a pillion, and I am sure it can be raised more above. Throttle response of this bike is really amazing and for that I can easily overtake other vehicle at the high ways which is required for safe riding.

City ride
During the city rides I never felt any problems at all and till now I am having good riding experiences.

Highway riding
Till now I have ridden 90 kilometers in one day and without back pain I haven’t faced any problems at all. I traveled to Kustia from pabna and returned at the same day and after finishing that ride I realized that I would feel more comfortable if the back pain problem didn’t took place.

Control
Most of the riders complained that the controlling of RTR is not that much good and I am also with them from few sides. For example after 70 KM/H speed this bike cannot be controlled like the riders want, on that time front side becomes heavier and the tires feels like the floating they are not touching the ground.

Braking
Front braking of this bike is excellent but I never get good response from the rear drum brakes. I have tighten the rear brakes fro many times but still they need to press harder and if I do that skidding problem may took place so I remain worried all the time.

Tires
Both the tire sizes are good enough according to the body size but they are also well gripped that I must say.

Electrical
Electrical side of this bike are really satisfying I really like the stock horn specially. Powerful battery is placed at this bike and for that headlamp offers excellent light at the night period and I can clearly watch the front coming things.

Mileage
I don’t like the mileage range of this bike at all. I am getting 35-40 KM/L mileage and because I am student I need more and I expected more from this bike.

Service center
I have visited the authorized servicing center of TVS and I really like the way they behave with me and not only that their environment and their workers are also up to the mark. So I am totally pleased with them.

Price
Based on the features and performance this bike holds perfect price tag and I loved that but one thing that made me disappointed is the new budget, all the bikes prices are reduced. I feel bad because I pay more money to have this bike.

I would like to request the company that now they are assembling the bikes in our country so please try to fit the body parts with care and perfectly because I found problem at the front tyre at the very first day I ride my bike.
