At the present time we all need better transportation system for our own need. We use different types of vehicles for our transportation and to save our valuable time. Among those vehicles motorbikes are at the top of the list. Motorcycles bike can easily be used in every situation and areas. In both rural and urban areas motorcycles are very demand able for many reasons but as we know every such thing which we use it must be legal. When we talk about legal issues, motorcycle or any other vehicles must be registered to BRTA office following their procedures. Today in this article we will try to provide the procedures of motorcycle registration in Bangladesh.
Registration categories
Motorcycle registration procedure in Bangladesh is quite complicated and very much hassling. The process changes a little time to time and zone to zone of BRTA, complexity also differs. In our country road permit of the government for motorcycle is 50cc to 155cc and based on the cc limitation there are two types of motorcycle registration system available.
No 1. At this category of registration users can register their bike for 10 years. According to BRTA the amount of registration at this category are 50-80cc motorcycle registration fees- TK 13913, 100 motorcycle registration fees- TK 19623, and 150cc motorcycle registration fees- TK2 1273.
No 2. On this category of registration motorbikes can be registered for 2 years and for this reason registration fees are lessen, from 50-80cc motorcycle registration fees-TK 9313, 100 motorcycle registration fees- TK 10463 and from 101-150cc motorcycle registration fees- TK 12073.
Registration Process
For motorbike registration first step of the owner is to fill up the application form provided by the BRTA office along with the needed papers. After the application form is placed at the BRTA office the authority will check all the required papers and make sure they are legal. After being sure they will ask for the registration fees and will give an assessment paper. After paying the registration fees owner must bring the motorcycle for inspection at the BRTA office.
After the motorcycle inspection that information is placed at the BRTA office and the assistant director approved the registration and with the registration number a letter, fitness certificate and printed tax token are given to the owner with the signature of other executives.
Within 7-15 days after confirming the date of registration, for making the Digital Registration certificate (DRC) owner have to give their biometrics (Digital Photo, Digital signature and figure print) at the recommended office of BRTA. To give the biometrics and after the digital registration certificate will be ready, owners will be notified through SMS both times.
Few steps or things needed for motorcycle registration:
1. Application form with the signature of importer or dealer.
2. Two Stamp size recent Photos of the owner.
3. Entry Bill, Invoice, LCA copy. (If needed)
4. Sell Certificate/ sell information/ sell proof. (From Importer/ sole distributor)
5. Packing list, delivery paper and gate pass.
6. Vat Paying document of the body. (If needed)
7. Payment voucher of applicable registration fees.
8. In order to transfer the registration to overseas individuals required work permit certificate and visa copy is needed.
9. Vat paying slip attested by the required customs office.
10. Approved diagram of manufacturer/ BRTA of the body and seat capacity requirement. (Applicable for all kind of motor vehicles)
11. If the owner is individual then one attested copy of NID photocopy/ passport photocopy/ Digital driving license photocopy is needed and if the owner is a company or corporation then an application is needed from their company.
12. If the motorcycle is purchased from an auction then release paper from the officer in charge is required along with the details of manufacturer and the manufacturing period.
13. Every single paper provided by the motorcycle company at the purchasing period and the observing report of the inspector of BRTA.
14. NOC paper from the customs authority/ NBR authority. (If needed)
15. For 125cc- 155cc motorcycles non- judicial affidavit on 50 TK stamp is needed. (Demo of the affidavit is given at the website of BRTA)
