Which one is better for your bike? Petrol or octane?
Fuel is known as the blood of the bike. Without fuel bike can not be run. Though nowadays we have seen some bikes to run by electricity but most of the bikes run with fuel in our country. Two types of fuel engine bike are available in our country.
In our country most of the bike lover have a common question. Question is which fuel is better for my bike? Petrol or octane.
Generally there are no difference between Petrol and octane both are gasoline. And chemical building is also same (C8H18). Both helps the bike to run.
Petrol, octane or gasoline has international rating called RON or (Research Octane Number). It is started from 82 to 92. Quality of petrol improves along with increasing number. According to our bike engine petrol is perfect. But in our country, it is difficult to get standard quality petrol. And lower quality petrol can make some serious damage of your bike.
- Lower quality petrol creates problem in burning as a result it puts extra pressure on engine and reduce the speed of the bike.
- It makes jammed in spark plug therefore creates problem in sparking.
- It also increased fuel cost.
On the other hand, octane is also a gasoline or fuel. But octane RON is better then petrol. So, its burn quickly compare to petrol. And provides speed and smooth ride.
Now you may think that, octane is the right fuel for your bike. But dear bike lover as I said above our bike engine is petrol friendly engine. So, if you use octane it will put extra pressure on your bike engine. It will provide speed but will reduce the durability of the engine.
But octane can be helpful for the occasional bike riders. Their bike remain stop mode for long time. In that case engine become cold and makes problem in sparking as a result it creates problem in engine start. Octane is known quick burning quality fuel. So if occasional bike rider use octane it will be better for them.
Now, question is that, what is the solution for the common bike rider? We common bike rider can use a trick. Trick is, as we know our petrol quality is not up to the mark, so we can use octane as a stabilizer. It will improve the quality of the petrol.
Yes, it is important to know about the right proportion of mixer. You can mix it in the proportion of 1:10. it means 1 litter octane with 10 litters petrol.
Actually its depend on you petrol quality. If your petrol quality is good then no need to use any stabilizer.
Some important suggestion
1. Do not buy that petrol which are traded in the road side.
2. Asked you friends, relatives or mechanic regarding fuel and according to their suggestion or reference purchased fuel from that filling station.
Take care of your bike. Happy and safe biking.
